Com-Net Software, the leading provider of Passenger Communication Systems in North America announced today that it has completed the installation and final commissioning of Des Moines International Airport’s new state-of-the-art Passenger Communication System which includes ECLIPSX® Multi-User Flight Information Display System (MUFIDS) 5.0 and Digital Paging 2.0. The result is an industry showcase in integrated audio-visual communication.

“Des Moines has been a good customer to work with. The IT staff is very talented and have demonstrated a real willingness to leverage all of the functionality that our systems provide,” said Dave Michaels, Com-Net Software president and CFO. “I believe that in the next few months airports will be looking at Des Moines as a model for passenger service and I am proud that our team has been a part of it.”

The integrated system is automated to aurally and visually announce flight status changes such as arrivals and delays in addition to announcing claim numbers in the baggage make- up area. Des Moines has also worked with airlines to establish automated boarding sequences for all of the carriers that service the airport, a feature that has made a significant impact.

“Our airlines are excited about the new boarding sequences and how they can use them to make certain that a consistent company message is delivered every time while boarding,” said Bill Konkol, chief aviation technical systems specialist for Des Moines International Airport.

Des Moines’s ECLIPSX MUFIDS features LCD-TFT Displays, HP servers and Dell computers for visual flight information. The Digital Paging system features the highest quality audio products from industry-leaders Biamp® Systems for CobraNet®-enabled digital signal processing and QSC® Audio for the cleanest signal reproduction and power amplification.

“The sound quality in our terminal was our first goal and Com-Net’s system clearly exceeded our expectations,” added Konkol. Aviation Director Craig Smith added, “In addition to greatly enhanced quality of announcements, we are completely ADA compliant for the hearing-impaired.”

Des Moines International Airport serves approximately 1.9 million passengers annually on eight carriers. For more information visit the airport’s website at http://www.dsmairport.com/index.htm.
