Com-Net Software, the largest dedicated provider of flight information display systems in North America, today announced that after 18 months of research and development, it has expanded its ECLIPSX® Passenger Communications Systems to include a digital audio paging product.
“ECLIPSX Digital Paging will allow airports to leverage their existing LAN infrastructure to distribute audio and visual paging messages at a substantially lower total cost of ownership,” said Dave Michaels, Com-Net Chief Operating Officer. When integrated with ECLIPSX Flight Information Display System (FIDS), the result is a powerful, unified, and seamless passenger communication system.
ECLIPSX Digital Paging allows full control over recording, playback, volume, and scheduling of audio and visual messages making it easy for system administrators and users to:
- Schedule announcements that run at set intervals.
- Perform ad hoc pages on demand.
- Synchronize audio messages with flight-related events.
- Dynamically adjust volume, based on ambient noise.
- Isolate messages to zones at the gate, concourse, terminal, and airport levels.
“ECLIPSX Digital Paging was developed from the ground up using Microsoft .NET to take advantage of the most sophisticated digital audio technologies,” commented Mark Schindler, Director of Software Development. The system is comprised of standard off-the-shelf hardware components and leverages Microsoft® SQL Server® 2000 and Windows® Server 2003, to provide a powerful and cost-effective solution that is easy to manage, support, and integrate with external systems.
Additionally, the Digital Paging Solution features flexible message options. Airport customers can use professionally recorded audio, generate their own messages with a PC, or create on-demand messages such as ad hoc pages using the most sophisticated text-to-speech technologies. |
