Com-Net Software, the largest dedicated provider of flight information display systems in North America, today announced that it has been selected to install Flight Information Displays in a Remote Cellular Phone Lot at Tampa International Airport.
In an effort to minimize congestion at the passenger pick area outside of the bag claim, Tampa International Airport directed Com-Net to install four large LED signs in a remote parking lot approximately 1/2 mile away from the airport terminal. Approximately 20-minutes after a flight arrives, a “Ready for Pickup” message appears in the remote lot indicating that meeters and greeters can proceed to pick up their passengers at baggage claim.
“Tampa has been a Com-Net customer for many years and we are proud to help enable their innovative ideas with our suite of Passenger Communication Systems,” said Dave Michaels, Com-Net President and CFO. Tampa International uses Com-Net’s ECLIPSX® Flight Information Display System.
“Com-Net installed the first airport wide flight information displays at TIA in 1990 and has provided continuing maintenance service ever since”, said Jim Jones, Director of Engineering at Tampa International Airport.
The cell phone lot is currently open for use but the installation of the flight displays is under construction and is scheduled to be complete on March 10, 2006.
Tampa International Airport is located on the central gulf coast of Florida and handles approximately 19 Million passengers annually on 23 commercial airlines, through 60 gates. For more information, visit www.tampaairport.com. |
